Apgar scores were 8 at 1 minute and 9 at 5 minutes. As noted on ultrasonography, the infant had a gastroschisis, and his bowel and the intestinal contents were examined and placed in a silo. He was transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit for further care, where he was started on parenteral nutrition (PN). He remained stable.
